Grace Charity High School celebrates its 10th Anniversary

On Tuesday, 30th March 2021 Grace Charity High School celebrated its 10th Anniversary and Founders’ Day.

It was a time to reflect on the School’s past and those that have helped to shape who we are, and to acknowledge the community members, both past and present, who have influenced the character and values that embody the vibrant, engaging, and safe environment we see today. It was an opportunity to laugh, cry, remember, and to praise the memories of this wonderful school.

It is not every day that you turn 10 and it is such a symbolic time, whereby who you will become is more clearly defined. The character begins to take shape. It is no different for a school, with traditions, culture and values becoming ensconced into our future being. Therefore, it was extremely fulfilling to hear the new School Hymn sung for the first time as a whole school collective, as well as the reading of our new School prayer; two traditions that have begun, which will hopefully stand the test of time.

The School also used the Service to reflect and thank its Foundation staff and consider those students, parents and staff who have been at our school from the very beginning. Those who once required gum boots to tread through sand and swamp to get to classrooms, who now walk amongst fresh, open, landscaped and modern facilities in a school that upholds the highest of standards.

School CEO (Chief Executive Officer), Mr. Pastor Victor Samuel said in his speech to the community, staff and students, “It is how we are with one another that will profoundly affect our own lives and the lives of people to come. As we commemorate each year those who have made a contribution in the past to our present, we too will be remembered by those ‘yet to be members’ of this school community, for the contribution that each of us has made to the foundation of their school.”

Chief Guest, Sister Bethany Waseem Cobb (America) did share her thoughts and encouraged us all in her speech. And assured that she is with us always in everything.

With over fifty special guests attending the Service and staying to participate in the festivities of the day, it was a wonderful opportunity to show-case the incredible learning environment and connected community that we have developed in our short history.

At the end of the program Principal Sofia Victor and Sister Bethany Waseem Cobb did cut the cake of celebration. And food was given to everyone.
